Tips on How to Get your Home Ready for Photos and Showings

Dec 21, 2022

Hi guys! Welcome back to our Channel my name is Emma Shelton. I'm a realtor in Arizona, and today I'm going to be talking about how to get your home ready for your photo shoot and your marketing.

So we typically do photos and a video. We don't always do a video, but we often do and people get a little bit stressed out when we tell them how we want it to be for the video and the photo. So, in photos the best thing is to have the least amount of stuff possible especially in the kitchen. I know with those counters we have our appliances, we've got our coffee maker and our Keurig and our toaster and our air fryer, all of those things they are distracting to the eye in photos. They want to show your big beautiful countertops, how much space there is, the Cabinetry. So what we end your backsplash to often those cover up the backsplash, we want the counters completely clear, no soap, no paper towels, no nothing, take it all off. If you can find a closet to put it in right, an empty cabinet, if you have a basket even, have a basket you can put all those things in there, and we can move them from room to room for your photos. Now for showings, this is not always the case. We do want to have no clutter on the cabinet or on the counters. Take all everything off that you can, but if you have things that you're using every day like your coffee pot, your Keurig, those kinds of things can stay on the counters for showings, but we do not want them there for photos and video and it's really important to have this kind of stuff ready when the marketing team gets there because it can take a while to put all those things away. Find a spot for them to go, move them around and if you have it ready, the photo session will just go seamlessly. The photographers have other appointments to get to and they're often very busy so it's really nice to just have those things already cleared off, but of course we are always happy to help you with that as well and tell you you know that one can stay this looks okay, but let's take all this stuff and the reason for this is we we want your home to shine in the photos. the MLS sells 93 percent of homes, this is where everyone is seeing your home on the internet and the photos we really want them to shine we obviously want them to be accurate as to what your home looks like but the best way to make it shine is just having less things in it so people can actually look at your home and not be looking at your stuff. I hope this tip is helpful for you. If you have any questions about what else you can do to get ready for showings or for marketing, leave us a comment below.
